Position Overview : As a Mechanical Engineer within our Power Networks team, you will play a leading role in designing, planning and developing the mechanical systems that underpin our power generation, transmission and distribution projects. Your deep understanding will enable you to contribute to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of these systems, helping redefine the future energy landscape. Key Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive mechanical engineering solutions for power generation, transmission, and distribution projects.
- Utilise your expertise in power systems to design and analyse mechanical components and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, and technical reports for power-related projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies and performance assessments to optimise mechanical systems for power generation and distribution.
- Perform risk assessments and provide recommendations to mitigate potential challenges in power system designs.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to the professional growth of the team.
- Engage with clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and present innovative solutions that align with their project objectives.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in power systems engineering to drive continuous improvement.
- Actively participate in project meetings, presentations, and technical discussions to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Chartered Engineer status with a recognised engineering institution (e.g., IMechE) is preferred.Proven experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on power systems projects.In-depth knowledge of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, including familiarity with relevant codes and standards.Proficiency in using engineering software and tools for analysis, simulation, and design.Exceptional problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering innovative solutions in complex projects.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients.Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage time, resources, and budgets effectively.A commitment to safety and sustainability principles in engineering practices.Benefits :
