Role Purpose
The Reliability Engineer is responsible for the technical operability of the site, assuring availability and reliability of technical assets, as well as process optimization, by analyzing and establishing an effective and sustainable site reliability strategy.
With Overall Asset Effectiveness (OAE) improvements through technical matters, the Reliability Engineer takes safety, environmental, economical, quality, and compliance aspects into account. These endeavors, in the broadest sense, aim to aid in the prevention of unplanned downtime events and optimization of planned downtime activities.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Manages and executes both global and local maintenances strategies and systems at the site, including being a strong member of the Maintenance team in planning maintenance activities
Analyzes and optimizes equipment performance and maintenance processes with the goal of improving reliability and availability through various risk and criticality based tools
Implements monitoring and continually evaluates reliability KPIs at the site level, with frequent communication between global functions and comparable sites
Utilizes tools for diagnosis, root cause analysis, and risk management in order to obtain valuable maintenance and equipment reliability data which highlights areas of need and triggers improvement projects
Coordinates and supports reliability strategies and interfaces with supporting internal and external functions as well as service providers
Ensures overall regulatory compliance of facilities, equipment, and associated documentation
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Bayer Group best practices, internal regulations, and overall strategies in the fields of Maintenance and Reliability, and continually implements these at the site level
Promotes a culture of maintenance strategy, asset care, continuous improvement, and overall reliability, and assists in training and supporting site colleagues on maintenance and reliability practices and tools
Experiences, skills and Qualifications
BS / BA degree in Engineering with focus on Process / Chemical Engineering with 5+ years of working experience
Masters or PhD preferred
Proven knowledge and expertise regarding process technology, pharmaceutical plant equipment, maintenance processes, operational excellence, and reliability engineering
Proficiency in risk and criticality based reliability tools (e.g. Risk Analysis, FMEA, PHA, Criticality Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, etc.)
Excellent software skills (most importantly, MS Office and SAP proficiency)

Creativity and the ability to involve and influence stakeholders
Proven analytical and presentation skills
