Senior Investment Analyst, Project Development (AGIA)

Description

AGIA is a project development fund managed by Africa50, which aims to support the development of green infrastructure projects across Africa. It mobilizes public and private sector investments to support projects in renewable energy, climate resilience, sustainable urban development, and other sectors that promote economic growth and environmental sustainability.

Africa50 is an infrastructure investor and asset manager that contributes to Africa's growth by developing and investing in bankable projects, catalyzing public sector capital, and mobilizing private sector funding. Africa50 has raised over US$1 billion so far from 33 African countries, the African Development Bank, two African Central Banks and Africa’s largest pension fund. Africa50 has an independent investment process and seeks to generate commercial risk adjusted returns for its investments across key infrastructure sectors.

Purpose of the Role

The Investment Analyst role is to contribute to the investment team by providing core financial modelling analysis, research and other required support to enable sound investment decisions.

Principal Responsibilities

Build and maintain project finance models complex project finance models including sensitivity analyses, cash flow projections, and scenario modelling

Analyze capital structures, project financing, and returns under various assumptions

Conduct industry, market and company research

Participate in all aspects of A50’s project processing cycle from project development to disbursement

Coordinate due diligence processes across financial, technical, commercial, legal, and ESG workstreams

Participate to the execution of A50’s project development investments with a strong focus on achieving bankable projects

Support the senior investment team members in negotiations with sponsors, lenders, and public authorities

Prepare project-related documents for internal and external audiences

Assist in supervising investments in portfolio companies.

Support the investment team in non-core investment activities (marketing, corporate initiatives, recruitment, etc.)

Candidate Profile

Required background

2 to 5 years’ prior experience in infrastructure project development and / or project finance within :

project finance / infrastructure / Tier 1 international investment bank / private equity with exposure to infrastructure sectorsproject or business development department of a Tier 1 power IPP or developerinfrastructure department in a Development Finance Institutioninfrastructure / PPP department of a transaction / financial advisory firminfrastructure private equity fund with exposure to early to mid-stage project development

• Bachelor’s degree from a University / Business school / Engineering school. MBA or MSc would be a plus.

Proven experience in financial modelling and valuation, drafting investment memorandum and supporting deal processes

Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with sponsors, partners and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds; living experience in emerging countries is a plus

Prior knowledge of African infrastructure and relationships in Africa are a strong plus

Position is based in Casablanca, Morocco, with flexible working arrangements.
