Professor of Practice in Chemical Engineering / Biotechnology

Overview :

The UM6P invites applications for the position of Professor of Practice in Chemical Engineering or Biotechnology Engineering. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position focused on bridging the gap between academic theory and industrial practice. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the department s teaching, mentoring, and outreach initiatives by bringing real-world industry experience into the classroom and laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering, biotechnology engineering, or a closely related field, combined with significant practical experience in industry.

Responsibilities :

Teaching and Course Development :

• Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in chemical engineering or biotechnology engineering.
• Focus on applied, hands-on learning, including lab-based courses, case studies, and real-world problem-solving.
• Integrate industrial experience into the curriculum to enrich student learning.
• Collaborate with faculty to update and improve the department s course offerings.
• Support continuous improvement of the department s educational offerings and activities.
• Industry Collaboration and Mentorship :
• Foster relationships with industry partners to enhance the department s connections to the professional world.
• Serve as a mentor to students pursuing internships, co-ops, and career opportunities in industry.
• Facilitate guest lectures, workshops, and industry site visits to provide
• Engage in applied research projects that address real-world challenges in chemical engineering or biotechnology engineering.
• Collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, and other academic institutions on projects with practical significance.
